Man Created Upright<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>God created Adam righteous and without sin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>God gave a clear law in Book of Genesis 2:16\u201317: \u201cOf the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only <strong>one prohibition<\/strong> in all creation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Death was warned of before it was ever witnessed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. The Temptation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The serpent (Satan) deceived Eve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Satan\u2019s fall is alluded to in Book of Ezekiel 28 and affirmed in Gospel of Luke 10:18.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eve added to God\u2019s command (\u201cneither shall ye touch it\u201d), venturing beyond what God said. Lesson: Adding to Scripture leads to error.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The Nature of the Sin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Willful disobedience. \/ Not ignorance. \/ Not coercion. \/ A violation of clear, simple law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. God\u2019s Sovereign Decree<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The fall was not outside God\u2019s will. \/ By His <strong>permissive decree<\/strong>, He allowed it. \/ Why? Ultimately for His glory and redemptive purpose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paragraph 2 \u2013 The Consequences of the Fall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Immediate Spiritual Death<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loss of righteousness. \/ Loss of intimate communion with God. \/ Fear replaced fellowship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Total Catastrophe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adam was the head of creation. \/ The ground was cursed. \/ Labor became toil. \/ All creation fell under corruption (Rom. 8:20\u201322).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Physical Death Began<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Banished from the tree of life. \/ Began the slow process of dying. \/ Adam lived 930 years\u2014long enough to witness the spread of wickedness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Total Corruption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Both body and soul corrupted. \/ Not as evil as possible in degree, but corrupted in every faculty. \/ Without God\u2019s restraining grace, mankind is capable of great wickedness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paragraph 3 \u2013 Federal Headship &amp; Original Sin<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Adam as Federal Head<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam represented all humanity. As Calvin wrote in his <em>Institutes<\/em>: \u201cAdam, therefore, being corrupted by sin, has infected all his posterity with the contagion.\u201d \/ All humanity was in Adam covenantally and naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The principle is illustrated in Epistle to the Hebrews 7:9\u201310 \u2014 Levi paying tithes in Abraham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Imago Dei Corrupted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. \/ That image was marred, not destroyed. \/ Every human conceived by ordinary generation is born in sin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The Exception \u2013 Christ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promised in Book of Genesis 3:15. \/ Conceived by the Holy Spirit. \/ Not born of Adam\u2019s corrupted seed. \/ The Second Adam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. The State of All Men<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Born in sin. \/ Children of wrath. \/ Deserving eternal punishment apart from Christ. \/ Judgment is eternal and conscious.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. The Only Hope \u2013 The Gospel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Christ\u2019s call in Gospel of Mark 1:15: \u201cRepent and believe the gospel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gospel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Man is sinful. \/ Christ lived perfectly. \/ Christ died substitutionarily. \/ Salvation comes through repentance and faith alone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paragraph 4 \u2013 The Natural Man<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Sin from Conception<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psalm 51:5 \u2013 conceived in iniquity. \/ Romans 3:23 \u2013 all have sinned. \/ No neutrality. \/ No moral innocence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. No \u201cAge of Accountability\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scripture gives: \/ No stated age of moral exemption. \/ No transition from innocence to guilt. \/ Judgments in Scripture (Flood, Sodom, Amalek) show: Guilt and corruption extend to all born of Adam. \/ Sin is inherited <strong>before it is practiced.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paragraph 5 \u2013 The Believer and Remaining Sin<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Regeneration Changes the Heart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. \/ Now sensitive to sin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Yet Sin Remains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not free from practical sin. \/ The enemy seeks to sift believers. \/ Growth in holiness increases awareness of remaining corruption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
