We know not all souls are to be saved. Based on Whom did the choosing unto election and the price paid for that electing choice, the result is unable to be moved, stolen, lost, or otherwise fail. The believer is eternally secure because of the surety of the blood of Jesus Christ on the tree – and this is no ordinary blood – it is the blood from the living veins of the God-man Jesus determined from eternity to be the ransom of elect souls.

1. “Were it possible” describes impossibility. This does not describe a level of difficulty, but “?? ???????” [dynatos] meaning impossible, which by nature excludes “difficulty”. The same phrase is used of Jesus in Gethsemane when he asked the Father if it “were possible” to permit the cup of wrath to pass. Jesus Christ knew that it was impossible for that cup to pass from Him, and with the same description – He uses the impossibility of the elect to be deceived.

2. The elect in a state of salvation cannot be deceived because of any lack of duty in themselves [remember the Ten Virgins – while the Bridegroom tarried THEY ALL slumbered and slept], but is based on the surety of the salvation that keeps the elect saved. The surety is the payment, and the indwelling Holy Spirit of God is the eternal seal upon the elect. If they were deceived at this time, it indicates they were never saved to begin with, not sealed by the Holy Spirit.

3. These verses describe tribulations. There is no tribulation that can separate the elect from the love of God. The deep of tribulation may appear to overwhelm – yea even unto death – but like the disciples upon the sea in Mark 4 with waves breaching to ship unto shipwreck, the living Christ stands ready to rebuke to storm and save his own precious elect. Even though the deep waters of tribulation surround the elect believer, they can never overcome and bring to ruin those persons.

The Group Persevering Will be a Small Group

This verse in Matthew 24 points to a differing between the elect and the non-elect. It bears noting that the elect are always a small remnant, as this is the means by which God exercises His will in the realm of mankind. Between those groups of people, there are those that have a true relationship with Jesus Christ and have been converted – and those whom may have those appearances – but have not closed with Christ. There should be no surprise to the true professing remnant of Christ that there are many that profess to be Christians but lack a true converting faith. Matthew 7:13 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat…” These words from the lips of Jesus shows that there are few that actually are truly converted.

Again in Matthew 20:16b we see “many be called, but few chosen”, and again in Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.” keeping with the Biblical fact that the true church is but a small group. Coming from the mouth of Christ, we need to be attentive, and look even further into the original language, as it brings illumination…

Regarding “many are called but few are chosen, let’s look at the original language. “?????? ??? ????? ??????, ?????? ?? ????????” roughly translated “polyoi eisi kletoi de oligoi eklektoi”. Let’s break this down:

?????? is naturally plural as it translates as “many”

?????? translates as “called” as a general calling

?????? means few, select – the root for “oligarch”

???????? is chosen out of, elected

The simple translation would be “many are called but few selected.” The preposition “EK” that precedes the ???????? means “out of”. This concept has made its way into the English language as well with a few examples here:

Ecclesia: An assembly of citizens in ancient Greece chosen and called out for the transaction of public affairs.

Ecclesiastical: Pertaining to the Christian church or its clergy – chosen out and set aside

Eccentric: From ekkentros (out of the center)—describes behavior that is called out from the norm or a circle not having the same center – called out and chosen out because of its peculiarity

Eclectic: From eklektikos (picking out or selecting)—describes choosing out particular ideas, style, or taste from a diverse range of sources and setting them aside for a different use.

Where this has its Biblical application for ????????, regards those that are elect of God that have been particularly chosen by the Father, and given specifically to the Son for a particular purpose – namely salvation. God’s own are also “called out” of the world and set aside to be a peculiar and chosen people.

This particular choosing or calling in ???????? does not share a root in ??????, which is “called” as noted above. Thus, ?????? derives from ?????, while ???????? derives from ?????????. The similarity in appearance comes from the common Greek ending -???, which forms verbal adjectives, but the roots themselves are different – and the potential for erring between these two verbs is an easy error to make. This other type of call [??????] is a general call that would go out – much the same an an announcement over a school intercom – the intercom send an announcement that all can hear. All men generally can and are able to hear this call.

The other type of call of ???????? is a isn’t the general call like the ?????? call, but directed, specific, and given to the one it is intended for – specifically a choosing. This choosing is directed in such a way that it will always be obeyed [in the effectual call] and it will have its follow through to completion [the perseverance of the elect]. This is akin to the same school intercom announcement going generally to all students in the school, but with a special choosing application for the listener. It would be as an announcement to the students with a special choice note to those that are members of the safety team for a particular task – that same announcement for all students generally is heard, but the special choosing notice for the safety team is understood specifically and only by those that are called to that team. It gives them the ability to act on the safety notice based on being chosen. While this is a coarse analogy, the substance of the idea is there: God calls to all men, but only those that are elect can understand the message to them as they are chosen and called for a purpose.

The call to the elect is registered with the ear, but not heard in the soul by the broader listener as it is not intended for them. They hear, and may even understand some, but are unable to respond as they are yet dead, and the dead do not respond to any stimulus – however they are responsible for – and judged by hearing the call, and if they die without the effectual call, they die in their sin and are judged for it.

False Professors May be Deceived and Attempt to Coerce the Elect into Error

Now, the possibility certainly exists for those not elect to have an appearance of being elect, but in the end, they are deceived. Consider two famous instances in scripture. The first is found in the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25. Of the ten virgins, there were five that had every appearance as being righteous before God, but lacked the one thing that was needful – having the oil of the Holy Spirit indwelling them – and giving them entrance into the marriage supper with the bridegroom, who in the broader sense of scripture is Jesus Christ. They looked, acted, spoke, resembled in every way the elect, but in the end were cast out.

In Numbers 23, we see Balaam receiving the Word of God into his mouth [verse 5] to speak. In Chapter 24 of Numbers, Balaam speaks thus: “there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel” [verse 17], which is an important prophetic message concerning the coming Christ later fulfilled in the New Testament. Yet in the end per Numbers 24:17 “I shall see Him, but not now: I shall behold Him, but not nigh.” and verse 25 “rose up and went and returned to his place”. Balaam was the enemy of God and not nigh, and “his own place” was not the joyful presence of God, but to perdition and burning. “His own place is noted in 2 Peter 2:15-17 and Jude 11-13, which show Balaam was wicked regardless of what wondrous words and prophecy came from his mouth.

It is the seed of deceivers like this that the elect will not heed because God promises that His children will exercise discernment and steer clear of the influence and testimony of those deceivers. They may have convincing messages delivered with enthusiasm and seeming power, but in the end the message is a false one to be discerned by the elect, and the power comes from the prince of this world. The false coercion by false professors is not heeded by the elect – they are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God and are capable of the ministry of discernment.

As a summary to Matthew 24:23, this call to discernment is a treasured call, and just as Christ will cause His elect given by the Father to persevere to the end, God will cause discernment in His own children. Those considered oligarchy in the vernacular description is constrained to those at the topmost of a rarefied society, the cream of the crop as it were. Elected souls are the special and rarefied of all creation as Christ died not for anyone but them. They are crown jewels of God’s special creation, as His love is generally to all creation, but His special love is only for His bride. His beloved.

False Christs will come. False prophets will come. They will show wondrous signs and miracles, but the sealed of Christ will persevere undeceived to the very end.

Matthew 24:4 “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”

Matthew 24:23 “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Main Idea: Since the certainty and surety …

Read more “God Will Cause His Elect to Persevere”

[1

post-467","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
